Poland
Poland is a country located in Central Europe, bordered by Germany to the west, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south, Ukraine and Belarus to the east, and the Baltic Sea, Lithuania, and Russia to the north. With a population of over 38 million people, it is the sixth most populous member state of the European Union.
Poland has an extensive road network, with a total length of approximately 419,000 kilometers. Of this, around 240,000 kilometers are paved roads, including expressways and highways. The expressway network in Poland is rapidly expanding, with several new sections being built every year. As of 2021, there were over 2,200 kilometers of expressways in operation, with more under construction.
In addition to the paved road network, there are also many gravel and dirt tracks suitable for 4×4 vehicles in more rural areas of the country. These can provide access to some of Poland’s most remote and beautiful landscapes, including the Bieszczady Mountains and the Pieniny National Park.
Poland has invested heavily in its road network in recent years, with the aim of improving transport links both within the country and with its neighbors. This has included significant upgrades to major highways, such as the A1 and A2, as well as the construction of new expressways and bypasses to alleviate congestion in urban areas.
With its central location in Europe and extensive road network, Poland is an important transport hub for the continent. It is also a popular destination for road trips, offering visitors the chance to explore its historic cities, picturesque countryside, and vibrant culture at their own pace.
