Honduras
Honduras is a country located in Central America, bordered by Guatemala to the west, El Salvador to the southwest, Nicaragua to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east. It is the second largest country in Central America after Nicaragua.
The road network in Honduras consists of about 18,950 kilometers of roads, including both paved and unpaved roads. The majority of the road network is unpaved, with only around 2,200 kilometers of paved roads. There are a few expressways in the country, including the CA-5 highway, which runs from San Pedro Sula in the north to the border with Nicaragua in the south.
In addition to the paved and unpaved roads, there are also many gravel and 4×4 tracks in Honduras, particularly in the more rural areas. These types of roads are often used by locals for transportation, but may not be suitable for all vehicles.
Despite some challenges with road conditions and infrastructure, Honduras has made significant progress in recent years in improving its road network. The government has invested in upgrading and expanding major highways, and has also implemented measures to improve road safety.
Honduras is a beautiful country with diverse landscapes and a rich cultural heritage. Visitors can enjoy exploring the many historic sites and natural wonders, including Mayan ruins, national parks, and pristine beaches. With ongoing efforts to improve its infrastructure, Honduras is poised to become an even more attractive destination for travelers in the years to come.
